Emory College is home to seven arts departments and programs, offering a variety of courses of study for students interested in the academic pursuit of art.
The Art History Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and sponsors several lectures each year bringing renowned art historians and curators to the Emory University campus.
Each year, the Creative Writing Program sponsors the Creative Writing Reading Series, featuring four to six internationally renowned and prize-winning authors reading from their works and discussing writing with Emory students.
The Dance Program offers both a major and minor and is home to Emory Dance Company (EDC), a student-based performance group that performs two major concerts annually.
The Department of Film and Media Studies offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees and hosts a weekly 35mm film series on Wednesday nights.
The Department of Music offers three undergraduate tracks in composition, performance and research in addition to several graduate programs. The department also presents over 80 concerts each year performed by faculty-led ensembles including the Emory University Symphony Orchestra, the Emory Wind Ensemble, and the Emory Big Band.
The Department of Theater Studies offers a major and minor. Students also have the unique opportunity to work with Theater Emory, Emory's resident professional theater company.
The Visual Arts Department offers an undergraduate joint major with Art History and Visual Arts, and a minor in Visual Arts with studios in photography, drawing and painting, sculpture, ceramics and film/video. The curriculum is supported by a rich series of Visual Arts Gallery exhibitions, lectures and programs.
