Emory College is home to six arts departments and programs, offering a variety of courses of study for students interested in the academic pursuit of art.
The Art History Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and sponsors several lectures each year bringing renowned art historians and curators to the Emory University campus.
Each year, the Creative Writing Program sponsors the Creative Writing Reading Series, featuring four to six internationally renowned and prize-winning authors reading from their works and discussing writing with Emory students.
The Dance Program offers both a major and minor and is home to Emory Dance Company (EDC), a student-based performance group that performs two major concerts annually.
The Department of Film and Media Studies offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees and hosts a weekly 35mm film series on Wednesday nights.
The Department of Music offers three undergraduate tracks in composition, performance and research. The department also presents over 80 concerts each year performed by faculty-led ensembles including the Emory University Symphony Orchestra, the Emory Wind Ensemble, and the Emory Big Band.
The Department of Theater Studies offers a major and minor. Students also have the unique opportunity to work with Theater Emory, Emory's resident professional theater company.
Academic Co-Major and Concentrations
The Integrated Visual Arts Co-Major (IVAC) allows undergraduate students a structured opportunity to explore visual media and art making, and to develop their creative skills in connection with a general program of humanistic education.
The Concentration in Arts Management is a collaboration between several arts departments in Emory College and the Goizueta Business School BBA Program. Participation is limited to rising junior and eligible rising senior BBA students and students of select arts majors in the College.
The Film and Media Management Concentration is collaboration between the department of Film Studies in Emory College and the Goizueta Business School BBA Program. Participation is limited to BBA students and students who are film studies majors.
