Overview

The Emory Dance Program presents a wide range of public programming each year, including Emory Dance Company concerts, the Friends of Dance Lecture Series, guest artists, dance on film presentations, and informal and site-specific performances and events.

Emory Dance Company

The Emory Dance Company (EDC) is a student-based performance group that performs two major concerts annually. The main focus of the EDC is to provide students an in-depth study of choreographic work. The fall concert is highlighted by works choreographed by professional guest artists and faculty. Occasionally existing works are restaged. The spring concert features works choreographed by Emory dance students. The company is open to all Emory undergraduate students, not just dance majors and minors. Emory Dance Company auditions are held at the beginning of each semester. For information on upcoming audition dates visit the Emory Dance Program website.

Guest Artists and Residencies

Guest artists and residencies play a key role in the education of the dance students at Emory. The Flora Glenn Candler Series has allowed the Dance Program to present some of the finest modern dance companies in North America. The Dance Program has greatly enhanced student learning experiences by creating multifaceted extended residencies with such companies as Doug Varone and Dancers, Urban Bush Women, the José Limón Dance Company, David Dorfman Dance, and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet. Residencies have often been supported by the Emory Coca-Cola Artist in Residence program.
