Irma Thomas headlines tour stop at Schwartz Center

Irma Thomas

October 23, 2017

If the French Quarter is the musical heart of New Orleans, then Preservation Hall is its heartbeat. Take a group of long-time performers from the venerable concert hall, combine them with the Crescent City’s “Soul Queen” Irma Thomas, throw in the spiritual authority of The Blind Boys of Alabama, and you get a very special evening of music that showcases “The Heart and Soul Queen of New Orleans.”

Touring together for the first time, these three venerable acts make their Atlanta stop on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 8 p.m. at Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts as part of the 2017-2018 Candler Concert Series.

The evening’s program will take the audience straight to the streets of the French Quarter with a magical combination of both exuberant musical collaborations and soulful, traditional standards, all performed by some of the original torchbearers of jazz.

Tickets are available in person at the Arts at Emory Box Office, by phone at (404) 727-5050, or online at arts.emory.edu. More information online at arts.emory.edu.candler.
