Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts presents the 2018-2019 Candler Concert Series with a lineup that includes classical mainstay Pinchas Zuckerman, contemporary experimental composer Max Richter, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra with returning opera star Isabel Leonard.
Best known for his genre-fusing compositions for the concert hall and film, Max Richter opens the series alongside the ACME ensemble, performing music from Richter’s studio album “Infra” and his score form HBO’s hit drama “The Leftovers.” Other highlights include an evening of late Romantic works from the Jerusalem Quartet with Pinchas Zuckerman and Amanda Forsyth, and a journey through the Baroque period with violinist Daniel Hope.
Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard joins the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for their 2019 tour, performing a special program of Czech music for Emory’s audience. Vocalists Eric Owens and Lawrence Brownlee close the season with an evening of music ranging from opera to spirituals.
The Candler Concert Series is made possible by the Flora Glenn Candler Endowment. All concerts are presented in the Emerson Concert Hall of the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts (1700 N.
