Spelman

In the fall of 2024, ASJ brought dancers and musicians together for a semester-long collaboration between a music composition class at Emory and a movement improvisation class at Spelman. The course featured an improvisational dance performance with real-time electronic music that explored human agency in AI systems, the social justice topic theme that both classes are tackling.

In 2025, students in a Spelman College dance course and Emory College African American Studies course collaborated to create a care-space at the Project Showcase and Community Conversation. In this space, participants explored shared and divergent definitions of "justice," "care," and "rest" through the lens of black futurist movement.
